CamView — Support

CamView lets you watch your CCTV/DVR/NVR cameras on Apple TV over your local network.

Getting started

1. Open CamView on your Apple TV.
2. Choose your camera brand (CP Plus/Dahua, Hikvision, Reolink, Uniview, Axis, Hanwha, Vivotek, Foscam, TP-Link, Bosch, ONVIF auto-detect, or Custom).
3. Enter the DVR/NVR IP address, RTSP port (usually 554), username, password, and number of cameras.
4. Tap Test connection, then Save.

Don't know the IP? Tap Scan network for cameras. Want to try the app first? Tap Try demo mode to play sample streams without a camera.

Using it

• Live: all cameras in a grid. Select one for full screen; swipe ◀ ▶ to change camera, ▲ ▼ for HD/SD, Play/Pause for Patrol auto-cycle, press & hold for PTZ (on pan/tilt cameras).
• Recordings: pick a camera, day, and time — or a quick preset — then swipe ◀ ▶ to seek.
• Settings: add/switch DVRs, rename cameras, cameras-per-page and smoothness.

New in 1.1

• Set up from your phone: in Settings or on the welcome screen, choose Set up from phone and scan the QR code with your iPhone camera. Your phone and Apple TV must be on the same Wi-Fi. The page is served by the Apple TV itself: no cloud or account is involved and nothing leaves your network. You can also back up and restore your settings there.
• Find my recorder: on the welcome screen, choose Find my recorder and CamView looks for DVRs/NVRs on your network.
• Top Shelf snapshots: move CamView to the top row of the Apple TV Home Screen to see recent snapshots of your cameras when it is highlighted. Snapshots are stored on the Apple TV only. If you see none, open the app once and let the cameras load.
• Motion highlight: cameras with activity get an outline, and Recordings show motion marks. This works with CP Plus/Dahua and Hikvision-family recorders with motion detection enabled on the recorder, and only while CamView is open; it does not send notifications when the app is closed.
• Siri: press and hold the Siri button on your remote and say "Open Front Door in CamView" (use a camera name from Settings). Rename cameras to short, distinct names for best results.
• Monitor mode: keeps the Apple TV awake, shows a clock, moves the picture slightly to prevent burn-in and reconnects automatically if the network drops.
• Camera groups and corner camera: make groups of cameras across several recorders, and keep a second camera in a small corner window you can swap with the main one.
• Languages: the app follows your Apple TV language: English, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), German, French, Japanese and Arabic.
• Tips: CamView is free with no ads. Tips in Settings are optional and unlock nothing.

Troubleshooting

• "No signal" / black tile: make sure the Apple TV and DVR are on the same network, RTSP is enabled on the DVR, and the IP, port, and credentials are correct. Use Test connection in Settings.
• Choppy video: in Settings, lower Cameras per page or raise Smoothness. Apple TV can only decode a few streams at once.
• Wrong camera brand: try ONVIF (auto-detect) or the Custom path option.
• Phone setup page won't open: check that the phone is on the same Wi-Fi as the Apple TV (not a guest network), turn off VPN and iCloud Private Relay on the phone, and make sure your router's client isolation (AP isolation) is off.
• No motion outline: enable motion detection on the recorder itself; CamView only shows what the recorder reports, and only while it is open.
